Camp Alexo was created in 1984, which was originally home to a coal mining “ghost town” known as Alexo. The town and mine operated from the 1920s to 1955 when it was eventually abandoned. To this day there’s still coal beneath Camp Alexo, though geologists estimate it wouldn’t be commercially feasible to extract it.
Over 40 years later, Camp Alexo is still running today and located in the heart of the David Thompson Country. Campers who attend Camp Alexo are able to enjoy a vast array of new experiences, learn lifelong skills, discover new interests, and make new friends.
